SmartInsight Working Area Definitions

It is important to understand the components used within the work area of the SmartInsight report designer.The following definitions will help you become familiar with these components.

Component	Definition
Report Design Canvas	The working area of the report is referred to as the report design canvas, and is located on the left side of the SmartInsight Designer window. The report design canvas contains three design canvas tabs that are displayed when a new report is created or a report is opened within the working area: Tabs Layout - The Layout tab contains all layout sections available in the report currently being worked on. Filter and Sort - The Filter and Sort tab contains all report filters and sort options available in the report currently being worked on. Distribution - The Distribution tab contains all options available to distribute reports to users, departments, roles, and organizations.
Menu Bar	The SmartInsight Designer Menu bar is located at the top of the working area of SmartInsight Designer window. For additional information, see Report Designer Menu Definitions.
Status Bar	The Status bar is located at the top of the SmartInsight Designer working area. It contains the report model information, report name and Virtual Entity name, if applicable.
Design Panel	The report Design Panel is located on the right side of the working area within the SmartInsight Designer. It contains the design tools available for creating new reports and modifying existing reports. The Report Design Panel can be moved to an area of your preference within the Smart Designer working area.
Design Tab - Layout	The Design tab, located in the report Design Panel, contains all layout tools available for creating new reports and modifying existing reports.
Data Model Tab	The Data Model tab, located in the report Design Panel, contains all of the fields included in the data model selected when the report was created.
Properties Tab	The Properties tab, located in the report Design Panel, contains the property settings available for the select field or control.
